Unfortunately, the father in the movie is not presented in the most favorable light. Neither is he portrayed as leading by example, like the mother who helps Mrs. Deeds and acknowledges her son’s efforts, nor is the father helping his son in the yard. He seems to have “more important” things to do, like reading the papers.
